Minseo Lee

Minseo Lee (born September 9, 2007) was a Korean-Chinese medical student and the older sister of Minjae Lee. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biological Science from Peking University, completed additional U.S. coursework after moving to Baltimore, and began the M.D. program at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in fall 2036. Her experience supporting Minjae shaped her decision to pursue pediatrics and eventual work in pediatric rare-disease care.

Early Life and Education

Minseo was raised in the Tianjin area by Nari and Joon-Ho Lee, eight years before Minjae’s birth. She was academically strong, disciplined, and fluent in Korean, Mandarin, and English. She adapted quickly to using English after immigration and became the family’s strongest English speaker.

Minseo completed a Bachelor of Science in Biological Science at Peking University in Beijing. Studying in Beijing allowed her to attend a highly selective university while remaining relatively close to her family in Tianjin.

Minseo participated in the family’s lengthy relocation approvals and preparations during late 2033. After their physical move to Baltimore in early 2034, she completed more than a year of graded coursework at an accredited U.S. university while preparing for the MCAT and medical-school applications. Logan Weston mentored her through the transition and application process. She matriculated at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in fall 2036.

Career Direction

Minseo chose the physician route rather than physician-assistant training. She planned to enter pediatrics and eventually focus on pediatric rare diseases. Her exact residency, fellowship, or genetics pathway has not been established.

Her family medical experience gave her practical familiarity with complex care, communication access, and medical advocacy. During her first year of medical school, at Caleb Ross’s late-spring or early-summer 2037 fainting episode, she recognized that he was about to collapse, warned the others, helped Joon-Ho lower him safely, checked him, and explained what had happened.

Personality and Communication

Minseo was disciplined, direct, caring, and strongly protective of her family. She communicated efficiently and became especially firm when seeking clear medical information or access for Minjae. In emergencies, she focused on immediate tasks and allowed her emotional response to surface later.

She was approximately 5‘6” with a lean build, straight black hair usually tied back, and dark brown eyes. Her clothing favored practical, professional pieces suitable for school, clinical environments, and family care.

Cultural Identity

Minseo was Chaoxianzu, or Korean-Chinese, and grew up in China before immigrating to the United States. Korean and Mandarin remained her family languages, while English became central to her education and medical-system navigation. She often translated information for relatives, but her cultural identity was not reducible to that intermediary role.
